If you live at high altitude like we do, 6 minutes will get you the perfect egg.

If you prefer soft-boiled eggs for breakfast, just reduce the pressure time to 2-3 minutes, depending on how runny you like the yolk.

FAQs

How long do you cook hard-boiled eggs in an Instant Pot?

A popular method is the 5-5-5 method: cook eggs on high pressure for 5 minutes, let the pressure release naturally for 5 minutes, then transfer to an ice bath for 5 minutes. This results in perfectly cooked whites and creamy, set yolks.

Why are Instant Pot hard-boiled eggs easier to peel?

Eggs cooked in an Instant Pot are easier to peel because the steam pressure helps separate the egg white from the shell membrane. This reduces sticking and makes peeling quick and clean, even with fresher eggs.

Can you adjust the cooking time for softer or firmer yolks?

Yes, you can easily adjust the timing. For softer, slightly jammy yolks, reduce the pressure cook time to about 3–4 minutes. For firmer, fully set yolks, increase it to 6–7 minutes. The ice bath step is important to stop the cooking process and maintain the desired texture.
